The time of year has come for college basketball to finally resume! 2020 has thrown us a lot of ups and downs, along with questions if we are going to have a college basketball season, and I am sure there will be more as the season progresses. There will be a season and it finally resumes tomorrow and we here at the Fourth Man Up podcast are going to dive into a little preview of some teams you have to watch out for, along with the Top 10 in rank to start the year.

Top 3 Teams to Watch Out For

1. Villanova Wildcats - Nova comes in at 3 in the National Rankings Poll, and even though they lost their star Saddiq Bey to the NBA, Jay Wright and those Wildcats are hunting for their 3rd National title in 5 years. They return all of their starters except for Bey, and Justin Moore (Sophomore), and Collin Gillespie (Senior) look to become the best backcourt tandem in the nation. Their x-factor is going to be replacing Bey who was a force last year and I think Cole Swider is in perfect position to do that. A 6’9 forward who can stretch the floor and has a much improved game inside I think can certainly step in for Bey and have similar production. I am also never going against Jay Wright that guy is one the best college basketball coaches in the nation.

2. Baylor Bears - The Bears may have the most talented roster in the nation with 3 guards returning that could have an absolute monster impact on their season. Davion Mitchell was one of the best defenders in the nation last year and was a semi-finalist for Defensive Player of the Year. If Mitchell shows improvement in the offensive game, he is one of my favorites for the Wooden award. Jared Butler was the Bears leading scorer last year and an all Big-12 player. He is also one of my favorites for the Wooden award because this dude can flat out put the ball in the basket. MaCio Teague is the less known guard on this team because Butler and Mitchell get all the spotlight. Teague lead this team in FT% last season and is great at creating his own shot off the dribble. These 3 guards along with an experienced coach like Scott Drew make the Bears DANGEROUS.

3. Houston Cougars - I had to throw a dark horse team in this preview that I watched a lot last season. This Cougars team is scary and Kelvin Sampson has his Houston team always playing hard and smart basketball. The main reason I love this team is because they are well coached by Sampson and he has them prepared every night. They lost their best player Nate Hinton to the NBA, but Caleb Mills and Marcus Sasser stepping into the starting lineup may make this team better than last year. Sasser is a sharpshooter, and given more opportunity being a starter he could thrive this year. Caleb Mills is my favorite player on this team and I believe he has a chance to win AAC Player of the Year. He averaged 13.1 off the bench last season and was by far the Cougars best player in clutch time moments. Being a starter this year I believe his game will go to even bigger heights, and he could be a dark horse to win the Wooden award as well.
