Retool Rather Than Rebuild: How the 2020 Misery for the Eagles could help the 2021 team

With the Philadelphia Eagles having their worst year since 2012, when Andy Reid was fired after a terrible 4-12 season many questions lie ahead. Will there be coaching change or in the front office? Who will the quarterback be? A change at either one of these positions could benefit the team immensely. A new GM could hit on some of the draft picks Howie has missed on, a new coach could bring better work habits or scheme to help the struggling offense, a quarter back change could bring improved play to the most important position in football.

If there are no changes to the previously listed areas of the team here’s a few important factors that could help the 2021 team. Keep in mind the Eagles will likely have a top 10 pick in the 2021 draft, for the first time since Carson Wentz was drafted in 2016. In recent memory the top 10 has served the Eagles well in terms of impact players (T Lane Johnson, QB Carson Wentz). Now remember that the Eagles schedule next year will feature a much easier slate as they play the NFC South instead of the NFC West and the AFC West instead of the AFC North to go along with the other teams in the NFC LEAST. Add into that T Andre Dillard, and G Brandon Brooks will be returning, and T Lane Johnson will all be back for a good starting line. Even if there are no major changes in the organization with a potential impact player coming in the draft, an easy schedule and healthy offensive line 2021 could be a quick turnaround year for the birds if they can navigate the offseason.
