The guys touched on the Dak Prescott contract situation to which we heard a very heated dispute from both sides of the table, with Boz and Sott saying that Dak does not deserve a $145 Million dollar deal, while Joe made his case as to why Dak deserves a big pay day.
To start things off, Boz and Sott stirred up the pot, citing that Dak is a proven loser on the big stage, and that over the past five seasons he has progressively declined in his ability to win big games for the storied Dallas Cowboys franchise. Sott mentioned that while the stats have remained fairly consistent over time, and that Dak does have very good talent, he stated with passion that there is no possible way that Dak Prescott deserves a deal that will set the market for future quarterback contract negotiations when he's won as many Super Bowls in his career as the Cleveland Browns have in franchise history. Along with this, Boz brought up the fact that with all of the weapons Dak's had at his disposal over the course of his career, he's never been able to piece it together and truly lead that offense to a championship in ways that quarterbacks with less have been able to. With an offense showcasing wide receivers like Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and the addition of CeeDee Lamb, as well as the prolific Ezekiel Elliot leading the charge in the backfield, winning the NFC East, NFC Conference, and even a Super Bowl is something that should not be as much of a mountain as it's been for Dak as of late, solidifying his position that there is no way that Prescott deserves this type bonus.
On the flip side, we got to hear a bit from Joe Chic as to what the abilities of a quarterback and the consistency of his performance over the years have allowed the Dallas Cowboys to do building wise towards an eventual Super Bowl in the near future, citing the facts that the Cowboys have been afforded the ability to show some versatility in their offensive play-calling over the past few seasons derivative from Prescott's ability to make plays through the air and with his feet on a regular basis. While Prescott has been unsuccessful in the past in those big, prime time games, Joe was quick to bring up the defensive woes that the Cowboys have experienced over the past several seasons, putting into perspective that while having an incredibly able quarterback at the helm is a great thing to have, a defense that can continuously close out games time and time again is just as important. However, for the time being, why give that leader a ticket out the door? Pay that man his money and continue to take the talent the Cowboys have to the next level while continuing to develop the rest of the roster.
