Moving Up the Depth Chart - Intro.

Initially when we started and thought of the concepts behind what Fourth Man Up would really be about, of course, the mass majority of what we’d really be covering consistently was sports, sports betting, and generally news and happenings in the world of athletics, cigars/craft beers, and local businesses in our area, but there was one thing in the initial write up of our podcast that I genuinely wanted to place some emphasis on, and that was segments that fell under the umbrella as “Moving Up the Depth Chart.” Now under this umbrella, this is where we could really get into anything that might be on our minds or the minds of our listeners if they were to submit questions or segments or topics of discussion, because none of us are certainly at the peak of anything in our lives, and honestly, that’s the beauty of it. Whether it be in our jobs, financially, happiness, physically, emotionally, etc., and with a worldwide pandemic persisting throughout the last 9 months of the calendar year of 2020, after repeated kicks to the groin, and different stressors harboring on people, moving up the depth chart simply, for me at least, just gives us an outlet to have discussions and write pieces that might be relevant to something that someone out there might be going through right now or wants to work on for their own benefit.

Now, let me preface this by saying I’m a History Teacher, a sub-par Podcaster, and an above-par golfer (Golf Joke). I’m by no means an expert on literally anything in any sense of the word, but I have certainly been dying to get to these topics and conversations that I’m very eager to start having with our followers and fans, so that while the world is dead-set on tearing itself apart, it doesn’t seem like such a bad thing to have some people that want to put a little bit of it back together.

For today, I just want this to serve as an introduction to this section of the blog, (and when you’re in the blog section of the website, it’s in the drop down menu), but in the future plan on having blogs about mental health, dealing with addiction, checklists for those of you that still sometimes feel lost on becoming an adult (because I’m right there with you), and so many other things that I feel could really benefit someone whom may be needing support. While we think life travels on a simple timeline from the date we’re born to the date that we die, life, like most things, is not linear. There are a lot of twists and turns, peaks and valleys, and even some cliffs in life from time to time. As we continue to progress through life, we’re going to face so many different things that we may have no idea how to encounter or get past, but just know that you’re not in the forest alone on those challenges. Millions and millions of people just like you, and more times than not, some of the people you’re closest to (some that you’d never even expect) have gone through the exact same thing.

Let’s open doors in our lives. Let’s talk about things that make us uncomfortable. Let’s learn how to become better people. Please, if you have any ideas as to things we could write about, or if you’d like to contribute to the conversation, shoot us an email on our contact tab on the website, or DM us on Instagram or Twitter, and we’ll chop it up and talk! I’m excited to get this ball rolling and, as always, excited to find better ways in which we can genuinely connect with our listeners to really make our fun hobby a better place for all of us, and most importantly you.
